Conducting a thorough contractor search prior to starting any renovation project is key to getting the job done right the first time. The first step in a contractor search is asking the right questions. Make sure the contractor is insured, that they provide ample references, and that they have been in business for awhile. Check out their insurance policy for liability and worker’s comp.
During your contractor search make sure there are no lawsuits against the contractor and that any required licenses are current, and verify this with the proper state agencies before hiring. Check with the Better Business Bureau on the contractor’s rating. For each contractor search, get at least three bids from three different contractors for each job you will be completing. Follow these simple rules, and you are sure to find a great local contractor during your search!
